Olympic crimes
I respect all of the athletes participating in the 2008 Olympics in China and especially the group of German athletes who chose to wear orange robes in protest of China’s recent treatment of Tibetan monks.
But, we all know that none of the news organizations that will get air time will be talking about China’s persistent Human Rights violations. They will simply be saying what the sponsors want them to say, and what viewers can cope with—especially the under-educated and self-absorbed US viewers.
Cheers to the Olympic athletes. Too bad none have the moral compass to choose not to participate in China’s PR campaign.
Jeers to political figures who will travel to China and probably make no comment.
